Overall
rating I gave this book is 3 stars,
The cover
of this book is beautiful and the byline on it is:
“a love letter to life around the
table with recipes”.
However,
I could not get why the byline? The
book is not anywhere near what the byline claims. It is on very poor paper quality, there are
no pictures and the words do not even come close to substantiate the claim.
What I
liked was the table of contents that included all of the recipes. At least this way I could quickly turn to a
page that might capture my interest with a recipe.
Also I
did enjoy the descriptions the author includes of why the recipe was meaningful
to her. And I do share with Shauna the
idea that people I love “gather around my table to not only eat and drink, but
to also tell stories, to be heard and fed and nourished on every level.”
To
improve this book, additional cost should have been suggested and this would
allow for a better product to be showcased and also include some pictures of
both the recipes and also the people who she influenced with her culinary skills.
